Ambato, Ecuador
The construction of the Emissary collector, the Minor Discharges, the continuation of the Quebrada Terremoto Collector, and a sewage pumping station located on the right bank of the Ambato River will allow all the sewage collected by the city's sewerage systems to be channeled into the site where the sewage treatment plant will be built. The collector system includes reinforced concrete infrastructure, and PVC, GRP, steel and iron pipes of different diameters ranging from 150mm to 900mm, totaling a length close to 7Km.
The Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) will process the water collected by the collector system in order to remove organic matter, suspended solids and microorganisms; which will allow discharges to the Ambato river to comply with standards that guarantee the quality of the liquid to downstream users. The project has aeration and dehydration systems, decanters, sludge thickeners, digesters, and other infrastructure required to guarantee a processing capacity of 0.76 m3 / s. It will also have a chemical odor treatment, and a biogas treatment system to generate electricity, which will help to cover its operating expenses.
