Riobanda, Ecuador
Works almost completed of the new water system that will give drinking water to 230.000 people
We visited the construction site that will soon provide drinking water 24 hours a day to the current 230,000 inhabitants of the town of Riobamba, Chimborazo province in Ecuador. The Chimborazo Volcano, with 6,263 M high, is characterized by being the point on earth that is closest to the sun.
The engineering solution applied to this project by COSMOSIVICSA takes the environment into account, since it is capable of channeling water through 33 km of pipes with renewable energy, without polluting, thanks to the physics and magic of hydraulic energy.
The work consists of capturing the water in the mountains, grinding and de-sanding it, conducting it through 20 km of steel pipe to the water treatment plant where coagulation, flocculation, decantation and filtering are carried out to finally chlorinate it and lead it another 14 km towards 2 large deposits close to the population from where it is distributed to the citizens.
The plant consists of two lines of 250 liters per second, to treat up to a total of 500 liters per second. The designs are made with a forecast of growth of the municipality, which currently only has a demand of 200 L / s, but which foresees a population growth from here to 30 years that will demand up to 450-500 L / s.
Present in Ecuador since 2014, COSMOSIVICSA continues to provide solutions related to the integral water cycle in the provinces of Chimborazo and Tungurahua, but with views and hopes of expanding very soon to more provinces in the country.
