The Neiva-La Dorada railway project, called Ferrocarril Petrolero (FerroPetrol), exposes the rehabilitation of the existing Neiva-La Dorada corridor, belonging to the corridor of the National Rail Network formerly known as Ferro lane del Sur, starting from the port of La Dorada, allowing the rail connection with the Central System (La Dora da Chiriguaná), the interconnection logistics with the port of said city and Bogotá. This line also allows direct communication by rail from the ports of Santa Marta, La Dorada, and Neiva.
The projected route has a total length of 387 km, and a total of 32 stations. Yardic trail has been planned (914 mm track width between inner rail faces) and 115 lb/yd rail. The generic cross-section is a single track, with a platform width of 7.00 meters; the seasons have been designed all with double track, the center distance of 4.00 meters, and 1,500 meters of net length.
The projected line will be suitable for cargo traffic (merchandise) and for passenger traffic. For this reason, a maximum slope of 10 thousandths (1.00%) and a reference speed of the geometric design of 200 km / h have been considered in the design, which will allow competitive travel times between the cities of Santa Marta La Dorada and Neiva.
